We are currently saving for a 20 hectare property in South Africa

Our goal is to purchase a 20 hectare (50 acre) property in South Africa, on which to expand our sanctuary and organisation.

Building more enclosures will be of great benefit to many more unwanted primates.  Our focus is on environmental enrichment and rehabilitation from psychological disorders.  For this reason, the enclosures at the new property will be as free ranging as possible.

Many of the primates received by the IPR sanctuary are hand reared ex pets who arrive with behavioural problems.  Part of our valuable work is to rehabilitate these disturbed primates.  We achieve this by socializing the primate with its own species and exposing it to a natural habitat.  The IPR sanctuary has experienced a great deal of sucess with this rehabilitation method. The extreme behaviour patterns of some of the incoming primates, not usually witnessed in Zoo's and similar facilities would present a unique learning oppotunity for students in the field of primate behaviour.

Included in our plans for the property is a training centre for local and international volunteers, gap year adults and students in the field of primate behaviour.  Students will have the unique opportunity to observe primates in large, natural enclosures and record the unstable behaviour patterns primates during rehabilitation.  Education of this sort will increase mankinds knowledge and understanding of primates and rehabilition from psycological disorders.  The information will be shared with others in the field of primate welfare.   In addition to this, students will be offered professional lectures on primate care and rehabilitation.

A prime property in South Africa could be ours for roughly £150 000.  The building/development costs: enclosures, staff housing, volunteer/students schemes, office block and training facilities will cost roughly £450 000.

With the help of supporters in the UK, USA and the Netherlands, IPR is saving towards the property.  We are doing everything we can to secure a property where more primates can be offered a better quality of life.  However, the more support we receive, the quicker our goal will be achieved.

Your support is the very valuable to the primates waiting to be rescued.

An IPR business plan is available on request for funding organisations and businesses.
