IPR - South Africa

Pauline Sher (Chairperson) is working with Pet Shop owners and vets in Polokwane, to display information warning the public that pet primates need specialized care.  People who have sent primates to our sanctuary also offered to speak to potential owners to warn them of the possible heartache of having to part with their pet primate once it reached sexual maturity.  All of the people who phoned in response to the posters have changed their minds about getting a pet primate.  We are sympathetic towards primate pet owners, who are usually genuine animal lovers, but know the heartache it may cause when primate pets become uncontrolable.  Prevention is better than cure.
